Lieutenant Colonel Brian T. Spillane
3d Reconnaissance Battalion

LtCol Spillane is a native of Rochester, New York.  He graduated from The George Washington University and was commissioned in the Marine Corps through the Platoon Leaders Course in September 2005.

Following The Basic School and Infantry Officers Course, LtCol Spillane’s first assignment was with 1st Battalion 4th Marines where he deployed twice to Iraq in support of OIF, once as Platoon Commander and once as Company Executive Officer.

After returning from Iraq, LtCol Spillane was assigned to 3d Reconnaissance Battalion where he served as Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Company Commander.  During his tour at 3d Reconnaissance Battalion, LtCol Spillane deployed in support of the 31st MEU and to Afghanistan in support of OEF.

Upon receiving orders, LtCol Spillane moved to the Middle East and served as a military advisor to the Royal Saudi Marine Corps and Naval Special Forces in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

LtCol Spillane then transferred to 3d Battalion 5th Marines where he served as Company Commander for Lima Company and Weapons Company.  While at 3d Battalion 5th Marines, LtCol Spillane deployed in support of the 31st MEU and as a part of the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan.

After returning from deployment, LtCol Spillane took command of 1st Force Reconnaissance Company.

Upon receiving orders, LtCol Spillane was assigned to Marine Corps University and attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the School of Advanced Warfighting.

After completing school, LtCol Spillane moved to Korea and served as the G-5 Plans Officer at US Marine Corps Forces Korea.

Following the completion of his tour in Korea, LtCol Spillane was assigned to 3d Marine Division to serve as the G-3 Future Operations Officer before being re-assigned to 3d Reconnaissance Battalion.

LtCol Spillane is a graduate of the Infantry Officers Course, Marine Combatant Dive School, Army Airborne School, Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the School of Advanced Warfighting.
