OKINAWA, Japan --
For the past 243 years, the Marine Corps has provided lethal combat ready forces that have earned the everlasting respect and affection of a grateful nation. From every conflict, since the Revolutionary War, the Marines have demonstrated the tenacity and ability needed to support our allies and defeat any adversary.
As we take a brief pause this evening, we call to memory the legacy of our Corps and the 3d Marine Division. For 76 years, 3d Marine Division has served as the region’s premier force in readiness, having distinguished itself against well organized and determined enemies, fighting across the Pacific, and responding to crises.
Today, we remain our nation’s forward deployed and forward employed division. On evenings like this, we are reminded of the incredible sacrifice and indomitable spirit of all Marines past and present who served in “The Fighting Third.”
Let’s celebrate tonight with the full assurance that America has nothing to fear because we are “Ready To Fight Tonight.” Happy Birthday Marines!
