Underwater egress survival training

U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment conduct the second portion of underwater egress survival training using the Shallow Water Egress Trainer (SWET). The next step uses the Modular Amphibious Egress Trainer (MAET) better known as the “helo dunker.” The MAET simulates a helicopter body that lands in the water and then turns upside down The training ensures Marines have the necessary skills and calm demeanor needed to exit a sinking aircraft.
