Colonel Timothy S. Brady, Jr.
3d Marine Littoral Regiment

Colonel Timothy S. Brady, Jr. assumed the duties of Commanding Officer 3d Marine Regiment on June 25, 2021 and transitioned the Regiment to 3d Marine Littoral Regiment on March 3, 2022.

A native of Fairfax Station, VA. Colonel Brady graduated from The College of William and Mary. He commissioned in the Marine Corps in December 1997.

Colonel Brady’s Fleet Marine Force assignments and billets include Platoon Commander, Company K, and Assistant Operations Officer 3d Battalion, 1st Marines (3/1) from 1999-2002; Platoon Commander, Operations Officer, and Executive Officer Marine Corps Security Force Company Europe from 2002-2005; Company Commander, Company E, and Operations Officer 2d Battalion, 2d Marines (2/2) from 2005-2009; Operations Officer 31st MEU from 2014-2015; and Commanding Officer 3d Battalion, 3d Marines (3/3) from 2015-2017.

Colonel Brady deployed with and participated in numerous operations to include the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), 26th MEU, 2/2, 31st MEU, and 3/3, participating in Operations BOLD SAMARITAN, DETERMINED RESPONSE, IRAQI FREEDOM, and NATO Operation ACTIVE ENDEAVOUR.

Colonel Brady’s staff and joint assignments include serving as a Company Officer at the United States Naval Academy; Section Head, Readiness Branch, Plans, Policy, and Operations, Headquarters Marine Corps; Deputy Division Chief, Current Operations Division J33, Operations Directorate, and Deputy Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joint Staff; and Country Director for Japan, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Colonel Brady is a graduate of the Amphibious Warfare School, distance education program; the U.S. Army Infantry Captain’s Career Course, where he graduated on the commandant’s list; the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, distance education program; the Naval War College, College of Command and Staff, Fleet Seminar Program; the University of Maryland, Leadership Education and Development Program, receiving the Gannon Award for Leadership and Academic Excellence; and the National War College.
 
Colonel Brady’s degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, a Master of Professional Studies in Leadership Education and Development, a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies, and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy.

Colonel Brady’s personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device and two gold stars in lieu of third award, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
