Sergeant Major Donald L. Reynolds is a native of Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 2000, and graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island in October 2000. In December 2000, upon graduation from Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-East, Sergeant Major Reynolds was assigned the 0331, Machine Gunner, military occupational specialty.
Following graduation from the School of Infantry, Private Reynolds reported to Lima Company, 3d Battalion, 2d Marines where he held the billets of Gunner, Team Leader, Squad Leader, and Machinegun Section Leader. He completed one deployment to Camp Schwab, Okinawa, and two combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
In January 2005, Sergeant Reynolds checked in to 2d Battalion, 6th Marines, where he was assigned to Echo Company as the Machinegun Section Leader and Rifle Squad Leader for the battalion deployment to Al Fallujah, Iraq. Upon return to CONUS, Sergeant Reynolds was assigned to Golf Company, 2d Battalion, 6th Marines where he held the billet of Platoon Sergeant for the unit’s return to Fallujah in 2007.
In February 2008, Sergeant Reynolds received orders to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, where he completed another deployment to Fallujah, Iraq as the Machinegun Section Leader for Bravo Company. In August 2009, he received orders to Marine Corps Security Force Training Company, Chesapeake, Virginia. While a member of Marine Corps Security Force Training Company (MCSFTCo) Staff Sergeant Reynolds held the billet of team leader, SNCOIC, and Course Chief for Close Quarters Battle School. In April 2012, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and received orders to 2d Battalion, 4th Marines.
As a member of 2d Battalion, 4th Marines, Gunnery Sergeant Reynolds completed a combat deployment to Afghanistan as the team chief for an Afghan Border Police Advisory Team, and one 31st MEU deployment as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Fox Company. During his time with 2d Battalion, 4th Marines he was the recipient of the Sergeant Major Joseph Ellis Leadership Award and the III MEF Commanding Generals Leadership Award.
Selected for promotion in December 2015, Gunnery Sergeant Reynolds was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant and assigned to India Company, 3d Battalion, 7th Marines where he completed an SPMAGTF deployment to the CENTCOM region as the Crisis Response Company First Sergeant.
In October 2017, First Sergeant Reynolds executed orders to Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School (MCCES) where he served as the Company First Sergeant for both A and B Companies respectively. In February 2019, First Sergeant Reynolds received orders to the School of Infantry-West where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Infantry Unit Leaders Training Company, and as the Director, Marine Combat Instructor School. Selected for promotion to Sergeant Major in November 2020, he was frocked to his present rank in January 2021 and assigned the billet of Recruiting Station Twin Cities Sergeant Major in February 2021.
Sergeant Major Reynolds reported to 3d Littoral Combat Team in March 2023 where he is currently assigned as the Battalion Sergeant Major.
Sergeant Major Reynolds’ personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with one Gold Star, Navy Commendation Medal with three Gold Stars, Navy Achievement Medal with one Silver Star and one Combat Distinguishing Device, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
