LtCol Brewer is a native of Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2000. After enlisting in May 2004 and completing Recruit Training at Parris Island, SC and follow-on 0311 rifleman training at Camp Lejeune, NC, he served in the Marine Corps Reserve with Company D, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in Quantico, VA.
LtCol Brewer was commissioned through the Officer Candidate Course in March 2005. Following The Basic School and Infantry Officers Course, LtCol Brewer completed the Ground Intelligence Officers Course and reported to 3d Marine Division G2 for his first FMF assignment. Division sent him to 2nd Battalion 3rd Marine Regiment to serve as Assistant Battalion Intelligence Officer and deploy to Iraq in 2006-07. He returned to Okinawa and served with 3d Reconnaissance Battalion from 2008-09, deploying with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) for spring-summer patrols in 2009 as Commander of the Amphibious Reconnaissance Platoon.
Assignment with 3rd Battalion 3rd Marine Regiment followed; he served as Battalion Intelligence Officer and Company Commander and deployed twice to Afghanistan in 2010 (Nawa - Helmand Province) and 2011-12 (Garmsir - Helmand Province). He moved to Marine Detachment Dam Neck, VA and worked as Director of Ground Intelligence Officers Course and Commander of Enlisted Training Company from 2012-15. Thereafter, in 2016 he graduated with honors from USMC Command & Staff College at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA and reported to I Marine Expeditionary Force and the 15th MEU. As the MEU Intelligence Officer from 2016-18, he deployed to USCENTCOM and USINDOPACOM in 2017-18 as part of USS AMERICA Amphibious Ready Group.
LtCol Brewer completed the School of Advanced Warfighting in AY 2018-19 and then worked as a Future Operations Planner at USMARCENT at MacDill AFB and as the Deputy of the Commander's Action Group (CAG) for LtGen Carl Mundy, Commander USMARCENT, from 2019-21. As a MAGTF Intelligence Officer and MAGTF Planner, LtCol Brewer joined III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group in June 2021 and served as Group Operations Officer until May 2022, when he assumed the role of Group Executive Officer, which he held until June 2024.
LtCol Brewer is a graduate of the School of Infantry-Infantry Training Battalion, Infantry Officers Course, Ground Intelligence Officers Course, Survival-Evasion-Resistance and Escape Course, Marine Combatant Dive School, Army Airborne School, MAGTF Intelligence Officer Course, Marine Corps Instructors of Water Survival Course, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the School of Advanced Warfighting. He holds graduate degrees from the Institute of World Politics in Washington, DC (MA-Statecraft and National Security Affairs, 2014) and Marine Corps University (MA-Military Studies, 2016/MA-Operational Studies, 2019). He and his Wife, Lindsie, have four children.
