Major Matthew A. McBride

Major McBride enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in 1995.  After graduating from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, he was assigned to Alpha Company, 6th Engineering Support Battalion, 4th FSSG in Salem, Oregon where he served as a Combat Engineer.  After the closing of Alpha Company he was assigned to Headquarters Company Portland, Oregon.  There he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Major McBride was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through the Platoon Leaders Class program in November 2000 after graduating from Oregon State University with a Bachelors Degree of Science in History.

After completing the Basic School and Marine Corps Engineer Officer Course in 2001, he was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 271, Marine Wing Support Group 27, Cherry Point, North Carolina.  As a Combat Engineer Officer, he served as a Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, Detachment Commander, and Company Commander for Engineer Company, Marine Wing Support Squadron 271.  He deployed to Iraq in 2003 for Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, in 2004 to the Caribbean to construct counter-drug aircraft hangars, and in 2005 for Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.  In 2004 then 1stLt McBride also attended Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1, and graduated as a Weapons and Tactics instructor.

Upon returning from Iraq in 2005, then Captain McBride was assigned to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune as a Range Developer.  As a Range Developer he designed, developed cost estimations, and supervised the construction of numerous range and facility improvements throughout Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.  In 2007, he graduated the Expeditionary Warfare School (non-resident).

After completing the Expeditionary Warfare School(non-resident), Captain McBride was selected to attend Engineer Captain’s Career Course in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After completing Engineer Captain’s Career Course, Captain McBride was assigned as an instructor at the Engineer Captain’s Career Course where he served as a Small Group Leader, Cell Leader, and Geo-Spatial Intelligence Instructor.

In 2010, he was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 273, Beaufort, South Carolina as the Operations Officer.  In 2012 Maj McBride deployed with Marine Wing Support Squadron 273 to Afghanistan for Operation  ENDURING FREEDOM.

From  July 2013 to May 2015, Major McBride was assigned to Combat Assault Battalion as the Executive Officer, and is currently the Director of the Marine Corps’ Jungle Warfare Training Center.

Major McBride’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
