Lieutenant Colonel Salame was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in December 1998 after graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science. After completing The Basic Officer Course and Infantry Officer Course, Second Lieutenant Salame was assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment where he served as Rifle Platoon Commander, Weapons Platoon Commander, and Company Executive Officer. In 2003, while serving as Company Executive Officer he deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM I.
In May 2003, Captain Salame was assigned to Marine Barracks Washington where he served as the Marine Corps Institute Assistant Operations Officer. In March 2005, he transferred to Naval Support Facility Thurmont, Maryland where he served as the Marine Security Company Executive Officer.
In August 2006, Captain Salame attended the Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia.
In May 2007, Captain Salame assumed command of Company C, 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment where he deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 07.2. In April 2007, Captain Salame served as the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines Operations Officer and deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 09.1. From September 2009 to May 2010, he served as the Battalion Executive Officer.
From May 2010 to July 2013, Major Salame assumed command of Marine Corps Recruiting Station San Antonio, Texas.
In August 2013, Major Salame attended Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia where he graduated with a Masters in Military Science.
From June 2014 to August 2015, Major Salame was assigned to Plans, Policies, and Operations (PP&O), Pacific Division where he served as the Ground Training Officer for the Marine Corps Rebalance to the Pacific. While assigned to Pacific Division, Major Salame deployed to Iraq as an individual augment in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. While deployed to Iraq, Major Salame served as the Combined Joint Force Land Component Command - Iraq (CJFLCC-I) Future Operations Officer.
From August 2015 to May 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Salame was assigned to 1st Marine Division where he served as the G3, Current Operations Officer.
Lieutenant Colonel Salame’s personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Recruiting Ribbon, and Presidential Service Badge.
