Colonel John T. Meixner
4th Marine Regiment

Col John Meixner grew up in Nooksack, Washington and graduated from the U.S Naval Academy in 2004 earning a B.S. in History and a Minor in Chinese.

He served with 2d Battalion, 7th Marines during its combat deployments to Fallujah, Iraq in 2005 as a platoon commander and in 2007 as a rifle company commander. He commanded weapons company 3d Battalion, 6th Marines during its rotational deployment to Okinawa, Japan in 2013. He commanded 1st Battalion, 7th Marines duing its rotational deployment to Okinawa, Japan in 2023. 

Col Meixner's staff assignments include: Operations Officer 2d Battalion, 9th Marines during its 2015 rotational deployment to Okinawa, Japan, III MEF FECC Plans Officer, G3 Operations Officer, 3d Marine Division, and Deputy Senior Special Assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe and Commander U.S. European Command. 

His supporting establishment assignments include: warfighting instructor at The Basic School, staff platton commander at The Basic School, Combat Instructor company commander at The Basic School, and commanding officer Recruiting Station Harrisburg.

Col Meixner is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School, the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the National War College.

His personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (fifth award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with combat distinguishing device), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement (with combat distinguishing device), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
