QUEENSLAND, Australia -- QUEENSLAND, Australia - U.S. Marines and Australian soldiers conducted helicopterborne operations during Exercise Talisman Sabre 19, taking advantage of the interoperability of key equipment and capabilities.
U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Ospreys, assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conducted tactical movement of Australian soldiers, with the Australian Amphibious Task Group, to the Royal Australian Navy amphibious ship HMAS Canberra.
"It was an interesting experience landing on the Australian ship," said Capt. Ezra Day, an Osprey pilot with 31st MEU. "It does however truly show how interoperable we have become and how easily we would be able to integrate with one another in a time of crisis."
Throughout the past 3 weeks, exercise Talisman Sabre 19 has seen U.S. Marines, the Australian Amphibious Task Force, and the Japan Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade conducting extensive high-level amphibious operations in support of a joint and combined maritime campaign allowing them to hone their skills and refine their procedures as a combined team.
