Maj. Gen. H. Stacy Clardy, left, Sgt. Jacob J. Baumann, center, and Col. Lance A. McDaniel, pose for a photo Jan. 14 after awarding Baumann the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for potentially saving the life of a local Japanese gentleman. “It’s our job as Marines to help everybody; I’m not one to have a lack of care for others, it’s not my lifestyle,” said Baumann, from Junction City, Kansas. Clardy is the commanding general of 3d Marine Division. Baumann is a fire support man with Headquarter Battery, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. McDaniel is the commanding officer of 12th Marine Regiment.
