ROK and U.S. Marines pose with a snowman creatively constructed by both corps at Rodriguez Live Fire Complex, South Korea, Dec. 21, 2015. Both Marine Corps will be training together and spending the holidays with each other in the ROK. The Korean Marine Exchange Program is carried out in the spirit of the Republic of Korea-U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty signed between the two nations Oct. 1, 1953. The exercise illustrates the enduring alliance and friendship between the ROK and U.S. The KMEP 16-3 focuses on the two countries’ combined commitment to the defense of the ROK and our shared, faithful commitment to peace and security in the region. The Marines are from 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines regiment, currently deployed in the Pacific as part of 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
