Sergeant Major Phillip J. Billiot Sergeant Major 3d Marine Regiment

Sergeant Major Billiot is a native of Houma, Louisiana and enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 1992.  He completed recruit training at MCRD San Diego, Ca and later attended the Motor Transport Operators Course.  After MOS school he received orders to Camp Lejeune, NC where he completed two Mediterranean deployments with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit.

In 1995 he returned to Camp Lejeune, NC where he served as Platoon Sergeant for 2nd Medical Battalion until he received orders to Henderson Hall, Arlington, VA in 2002.  While stationed in Arlington, Virginia he attended the Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Trainers Course and earned a first degree black belt instructor trainer certification.

In 2002 he received orders to Parris Island, SC where he attended Drill Instructor School and was later assigned to the 1st Recruit Training Battalion where he served as Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and later as the 1st Recruit Training Battalion Drill Master.

After a successful tour of duty he was transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion-4 Okinawa, Japan in 2005 where he served as Platoon Sergeant and Company Gunnery Sergeant.  While assigned to CLB-4 he completed two deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In July of 2008 he received orders to HQBN, 2nd Marine Division Camp Lejeune, NC where he served as the Operations Chief for Truck Company A.  In 2009 he was promoted to First Sergeant, received orders to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, and completed one deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as the Company E 1stSgt.

In February 2012, he was transferred to Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools, Camp Johnson, NC where he served as Company 1stSgt for Logistics Operations School.

In 2014 he was promoted to his current rank and assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 26 where he deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit into 5th and 6th Fleet Areas of Responsibilities.

In May 2016, SgtMaj Billiot received orders to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. SgtMaj Billiot assumed his current post as the 3d Marine Regiment Sergeant Major in January 2018.

SgtMaj Billiot holds a Bachelor of Arts in Homeland Security and Emergency Management.  His personal decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 2 gold stars and combat distinguishing device, Navy Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
